This short how-to video shows how to easily make a tiller arm extension for an outboard motor. We used a Yamaha 25 hp outboard to demonstrate but the same techniques can be used on outboard engines. Tiller extension arms can be made in a variety of lengths and are ideal to allow the operator to sit forward allowing for small boats and skiffs to plane faster. For this project you need a 12 inch pc of 1 1/2 PVC, pc of 1 1/4 PVC length to be determined by how long you want the extension arm. We used 18 inches. One 1 1/2 inch to 1 1/4 PVC adaptor, One 1 1/2 to 1 1/2 PVC coupler, PVC glue and some hockey tape for the grip.

I was so impressed that I made a couple for myself. I used a 10' x 3/4" fiberglass pole an aluminum tip, 3/4 irrigation T, Marine Tex epoxy, hockey tape and fiberglass resin to make this Push Pole shallow water stick anchor. Easy DIY project. Great for holding position while skinny water fishing and duck hunting.
